Handle claims and arbitrations in the general area of shipping, for example collision, goods in transit, charter party and Bills of Lading disputes Defend or pursue claims against thirds parties Assist the Legal Manager in all legal matters Advise internal clients on any kind of legal issue in connection with the day to day business Maintain a good client relationship and handling issues with an understanding of internal client needs Identify and balance key legal and commercial risks & benefits making appropriate recommendations Manage of cases and workload in a timely and efficient matter A law degree from an accredited European (preferably Dutch or English) university Approx. three years experience (at least) in handling a variety of maritime claims Fluency in English and familiarity with legal English Competent legal drafting skills Hands-on mentality, analytical skills A commercial attitude, service and quality orientated Candidates with experience gained from P&I Club, Marine Insurer or whilst working for a ship owner within an insurance department are welcome to apply. For the office in Rotterdam we are looking to recruit a Legal Maritime Claims Handler. You will be responsible for handling a wide and diversified range of claims and arbitrations related to charter parties or bills of lading, from inception to completion. The Legal Claim Handler works closely together with the organisations Chartering Department and Back Office. You will advise external parties like lawyers, P&I, Insurers and Surveyors. You will be required to advise in terms of liability, write submissions, provide advice and excellent customer service to Chartering Department. The Legal Claims Handler will report directly to the Head of Legal Department. |
