The position is responsible for sourcing and supplying marine fuel oil into the ARA region (approximately 30% of the groups sales volume), as well as developing and managing the company's trade book. The senior trader will manage day-to-day trading position of the business, capitalizing on arbitrage opportunities as they arise, as well as developing and executing both short and long term trading strategies related to the purchase and sale of derivatives and physical fuel oil. He/She will work closely with the Managing Director, Risk Manager and the Head of Trading as they enter into, evaluate and monitor positions and strategies for various fuel oil trades. This includes, but is not limited to the negotiation of contracts, pricing, terms and conditions for supply into the company's supply and distribution system. The position will liaison with other trading entities within the group to coordinate the marketing and trading activities of the company as well as develop and maintain relationships with external companies, which among others, include trading and bunker companies. Additionally, the position will be responsible for training and managing the performance of direct reports. The ideal candidate will be a tertiary qualified candidate in the area of business, management or economics and have completed a minimum of 8 years of progressive work experience in the areas of oil trading, oil shipping, bunker operations and trading. He/ She should have a strong industry track record as well as an in-depth understanding of the region and a robust, well-developed network within the oil trading industry. The candidate is expected to have knowledge of EU laws governing import and export of fuel oil and hands on experience with contracting and risk management. In addition, he or she should have excellent exposure to the oil and energy industry and an understanding of fuel blending. The candidate should poses solid communication and negotiation skills, be highly analytical, detailed and action oriented, and is geared towards the development of effective systems and processes. They should have strong planning skills, prioritize well and be results driven. The position requires fluency in written and spoken English.
